Jim Chocklett                          Jay Chocklett


Professional Associations

Jim Chocklett is an environmental chemist, trainer and consultant with areas of expertise in hazardous materials management, wastewater and water treatment, chemical manufacturing, electroplating and industrial occupational hygiene and workplace safety. Mr. Chocklett is a certified wastewater treatment plant operator with over thirty five years of actual experience in operations, design, consulting and troubleshooting. As an expert witness in local, state, and federal courts, he has given testimony in areas of safety, health, treatment plant operations, hazardous materials management, water quality testing and manufacturing.

Mr. Chocklett has a BS degree in Chemistry with minors in Physics and Math as well as graduate studies in Environmental Systems Engineering. He is a Certified Environmental Trainer (CET) and a Certified Electroplater Finisher (CEF) in addition to certifications as a water/wastewater treatment plant operator, wastewater collection and a Mid-Atlantic Safety Council Certified Contractor. Jim conducts manufacturing quality control programs while also lecturing and teaching college level math and science courses. Jim is also a member of the NFPA and serves on the Fire Science and Technology Educators Section. Jim is also an authorized OSHA trainer.

As an employee of the State of North Carolina, Mr. Chocklett served as an enforcement officer, inspector, investigator, and incident commander. He has been a consultant to industry, manufacturers, State and Federal Agencies, Technical Schools and Colleges as well as educational resources and training materials developers. Jim managed and was Department Head of the two year, Associate Degree, Environmental Technology Program at Greenville Technical College, which was an EPA funded training project.

Active research projects that Mr. Chocklett has developed and currently participates in , includes: computer based and interactive training programs, basic chemistry demonstrations for HAZMAT training, wastewater and materials recovery and recycling for the electroplating industry, treatment plant control/ optimization with personal computers, zinc alloy coatings and protective finishes for ferrous metals.

In addition to his many training and consulting activities, Mr. Chocklett also is an avid sailor and golfer. Jim has an interest in radio and electronics, restores antique radios, builds electronic gadgets and is a licensed amateur operator (KD4YPG).


Jay Chocklett is a environmental trainer, consultant, and industrial safety consultant, certified wastewater operator, wastewater collection, Mid-Altantic Safety Council Certified Contractor, an ARRL  Level 1 Emergency Communicator and a Licensed Pool and Spa Operator in the State of South Carolina for over 12 years. Jay is a Nationally Certified Pool Operator. Jay has a BS in Chemistry from Newberry College. Also Jay is a HAZWOPER, OSHA, DOT, LPO, Wastewater instructor. Jay is the lab manager for repair and equipment servicing for several industrial clients. Jay is an OSHA authorized trainer.

Jay is active in laboratory research in wastewater treatment plants, working on new techniques for more efficient nitrification and denitrification processes, and research of potential trace contamination of ammonia in electroplating processes. He is active in developing new lab techniques for permanent and mobile lab equipment which is computer based with Direct Reading Instruments. Jay is activily involved in new methods development for latex/plastic wastewater treatment.

In addition to his many training and consulting activities, Jay has an avid interest in electronics, fishing, hunting, restoring boats, astronomy and is a amateur radio enthusiast (KG4ULS).
